Abstract

20,081. Collier, A. T., and Collier Tyre Co. Sept. 17. Tyres, pneumatic; felloes or rims.-Tyres having double treads are formed by enclosing two air tubes n side by side either in separate covers d, Fig. 1, or in a modified cover d', Fig. 2. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the bases of the channels b, c are inwardly inclined in order to lessen risk of the tyres being forced out of the rim in running. With either form of tyre, a leather or rubber-andcanvas strip f, fitted with studs h, or chainmail, is attached to the rim by a flexible web g, or by cords, chains, or springs, drawn taut by inflation of the tyres. The usual retaining-wires e, which may be fitted with tightening-devices, are employed. In the form shown in Fig. 2, a central retaining- wire e<1> is fitted as shown. Tubeless tyres may be similarly constructed.
