21,583. Jones, E., and White, D. Oct. 28. Carding-engines.-Relates to means for securing card clothing on metal drums or rollers used in carding-engines. Strips of metal 3, having projecting pointed teeth 4, are secured in longitudinal, spiral, or otherwise arranged grooves cut in the drum, and, as the fillet 5 is applied to the drum, it is secured by reason of the teeth 4 penetrating the foundation from behind. Circumferential grooves 6 with corresponding toothed strips 7 are arranged near the ends of the drum for holding the fillet firmly at these parts, the grooves and toothed strips 7 being deeper than the strips 3, to allow of the latter crossing the strips 7 as shown in Fig. 6 ; 11 are metal plates which are screwed to the drum for holding the ends of the fillet. The strips are secured in the grooves by pressing, rolling, or other suitable means.
