[Addition to 5468/13.] Carding-engines.-The two screens and receptacle described in the parent Specification are replaced by one or more gratings 2 composed of parallel spaced bars 3 connected together by bolts 5, the end bars being extended at 7 and carrying a shaft 9. which is oscillated by an eccentric 10, link 11, and crank 12. The refuse guided to the grating by the plates 13 ... 16 is shaken, the dirt falling through the bars and the cleaned fibre being collected by the cylinder 1 and restored to the main cylinder by the auxiliary rollers 17. The cylinder 1 and rollers 17 may be replaced by a single large cylinder.
