Carding-engines. - A stationary box a, having one or both of the sides b, d covered with perforated material and being connected with a vacuum-producing apparatus, is provided in the angle between the takerin e and the cylinder c. The taker-in is provided with blades g parallel to or arranged at an angle with its axis, and of about the same height as the teeth. The box may be applied to take the place of any clearer, stripper, or conveyer roller as used in roller and clearer cards.
