Abstract

189,869. Fairbrother, H., (Corbett, W. A.). Sept. 7, 1921. Air, moistening. - A device for supplying moistened air to the induction pipe of an internalcombustion engine comprises a glass vessel 6 containing water and an air inlet tube 10 provided with two sets of holes, one set being below the water level and the second set being regulated by means of a slide valve 13. In the form shown, a felt wad 14 above the water level is provided with gauze plates 15 on each side, and another gauze plate 16 is fitted at or about the level of the water surface. The vessel 6 is a glass cylinder with top and bottom lids seated on gaskets 9 and held in position by a central bolt 8. Air is admitted to the inlet tube 10 by a pipe 11 fitted with a rotary inlet valve or with a ball valve 17 acted upon by a spring adjusted by means of a handle 18, Fig. 3.
