Abstract

184,637. Sharples, H. June 17, 1921. Hand &c. actuation.- Relates to means for locking the main levers of railway wagon and similar brakes. Each lever a has a pawl-like end engaging a hinged rack or quadrant g, and a grippiece i pivoted to it as shown in Fig. 4. The grip-piece has an extension k abutting against the underside of the lever a, and a projection l engaging an abutment plate j on the depending rack g. The projection l disengages the rack when the lever is raised. The brake rock shaft c may be operated from either side, the levers a being connected by lugs e, d. The hinged racks g are connected by a bar m and levers n. According to the Provisional Specification, the lower ends of the racks may be connected.
