Abstract
365,668. Brake transmitting-mechanism. KARRIER MOTORS, Ltd., CLAYTON, R. F., AVERNS, R. DEAN-, and MEEK, P., Karrier Works, St. Thomas' Road, Huddersfield. Oct. 30, 1930, Nos. 32586 and 37888. [Class 103 (i).] Transmitting-mechanism for the operation of the brakes of a trailer vehicle from the tractor comprises a lever b pivoted at a on the tractor and connected by a pull-rod v to an arm e pivoted on the trailer. The arm e is connected by a rod f of adjustable length to an angle lever h which engages a rod i slidable in a guide coaxial with the turntable of the trailer. The upper end of the rod i engages an angle lever k connected by members n,p, r to the trailer brakes. The rod v has a pin v<1>- for engagement with a slot or recess in the lever b so that by pushing the rod and arm e downwardly against the action of a spring u the rod can be disconnected from the lever, the slot f<1> permitting this to be done without operating the trailer brakes. The lever b may be coupled to the hand or foot lever which operates the tractor brakes or there may be two or three levers such as b arranged side by side and engaging a common pin on the rod v so that the trailer brakes may be operated conjointly with either the hand or foot brakes of the tractor or independently of either of these. A horizontal hand-lever t may also be provided, extending to the side of the trailer and engaging the slotted end o of the rod n to apply the brakes.
