Abstract

14,687. Millard, S. H. June 27. Brakes. - The brake mechanism of railway wagons is so arranged that all the brakes on both sides of the wheels are operated simultaneously by a hand-lever at either side and either end of the wagon. The shoes E, E<1> are suspended by hangers F, F<1> connected together by the rods M. On each end of the cross-shaft B, on which the brake levers C are fixed, is fitted a hand-lever G having a projecting end H which works in a slot J in a link attached to the end of a shorter band-lever G<1> at the other end of the wagon. By depressing or raising the end of either lever G or G<1>, all the brakes are applied or released simultaneously. The hand-levers are provided with catch bosses which act one way only, as described in Specification No. 10,482, A.D. 1906.
