Abstract

181,490. Fearn, J. W., and Murray, F. T. March 16, 1921. Breech actions, sliding breech-block. - Relates to automatic pistols of the kind having a firing- pin adapted to be struck by a pivoted hammer, and a safety device adapted to lock the firing-pin in a position in which it is out of reach of the hammer. According to the invention, the safety device comprises a rotary bolt b' mounted in the breech-block c and having at its inner end a flattened projection or cam b<2>, which enters a slot in the firing-pin a. When the safety-bolt is turned by an external finger-piece so that the projection b<2> lies longitudinally with respect to the firing-pin, as shown in Fig. 2, the firing-pin is pushed for. wards so that its end is out of reach of the hammer d. A spring bolt f, Fig. 1, is provided for retaining the safety-bolt in either of its positions.
