Abstract

229,851. Johnstone, D. V., and Fearn, J. W. Feb. 19, 1924. Pneumatic safety appliances.-A safety device adapted to lock the trigger while leaving the sear free, comprises a transverse bolt capable of being rotated to bring it into the locking or unlocking position and of sliding axially to lock it in either position. The invention is shown applied to an air gun having a sear a with a tail part overhanging a rearward extension g' of the trigger. The safety bolt h has a flat surface h<1> which can be turned to engage and lock the trigger. The bolt is normally pressed outwards by a spring h<4> and is formed at the edge with two notches h<5>, h<6>, Fig. 2, one of which, when the bolt is pressed outwards, engages a fixed screw head j. To free the bolt for rotation, it is pressed inwards against the pressure of its spring.
