Abstract

180,401. Nield, W. H., and Melland, W. Feb. 16, 1921. Coking-chambers; gaseous-fuel fittings.-Fuel is fed continuously by means such as a screw conveyer 4 through an horizontal tube 3 in which it is coked previously to falling upon a travelling grate 7. The gases evolved during coking are extracted by a fan 11 and, after being passed through condensers 12, 15 and 19 for the removal of by-products, are returned through a conduit 20 to a burner 21 for combustion in the furnace. The condenser 19 may be short-circuited if desired by passing the gases to the conduit 20 through a cock 23. Specification 104,084 is referred to.
