Abstract

178,481. Dreaper, W. P. Nov. 10, 1920. Spindle apparatus; thread guides; rollers. -The centrifugal box 0 of a machine for spinning artificial silk, &c. is of increased diameter so as directly to produce a skein. The thread guide K or an extension L thereto is mounted on a crossbar M rapidly reciprocated by cam-mechanism so as to produce, during winding, the effect of cross-reeling. A stream of liquid may be passed through the guide and its extension as described in Specification 171,719, [Class 2 (ii), Cellulose &c.]. The godet C is placed at the same level as the precipitating-bath and is provided with cylindrical portions differing in diameter and connected by a conical portion C; by relative movement of the godet and the guide B the thread can be shifted from one of the cylindrical portions to the other so as to vary the speed of spinning; and the godet may be connected to its driving- shaft by a clutch. According to the Provisional Specification, the variation in the speed of the godet may be obtained by a two-speed mechanism.
