Abstract

178,266. British Thomson - Houston Co., Ltd., (General Electric Co.). Feb. 24, 1921. Systems depending on the use of static transformers.-A supply system comprising main transformers at the central station and transformers at a substation supplying a plurality of loads, is provided with a switching arrangement for the main n transformers whereby one of the loads may be removed from the system. The windings A, B, Fig. 1, of the main transformer are connected to the windings P<1>, P<2> of the substation transformer by leads 10, 11, 12, and a double-pole switch K is provided to charge the connections between the winding B and the leads 11, 12. In the position shown, the loads 26, 26<1>, 25 are supplied by the secondary windings S<1>, S<2>. When the switch K is moved to its other position the secondary windings S<1>, S<2> oppose each other and the load 25 is cut out. In a modification, a switching arrangement is provided to vary the connections of the windings A, B from those shown in Fig. 1 to those shown in Fig. 3.
