Abstract

171,554. Taylor, A. M. Sept. 11, 1920. Equalizing load on generator; distributing mains, arrangements of; system depending on the use of static transformers.-In existing threephase systems employing three or more three-core feeders, the bus-bars of these feeders are divided into three sections, each provided with one or more generators, and selected cores of the feeders are supplied with extra currents of the same frequency and phase as the main currents, but of higher voltage. The main station bus-bars B'B', Fig. 2, are divided into sections and connected to generators G<1>, G<2>, G<3> respectively, the neutral points of which are not earthed. The cores a, b, c of feeders A, B, C, connecting the bus-bars B<1>, B<1> with the sub-station bus-bars B<2>, B<2> are connected to the secondary winding of a transformer T' supplying current of the same frequency as the generators G<1>, G<2>, G<3> but of higher voltage. The transformer T<1> may be replaced by three transformers T<33> which also operate to maintain the generators in synchronism and equally loaded. The substation bus-bars B<2>, B<2> may be connected to direct-current bus-bars B<4>, B<4> through converters R<1> C<1>, R<2> C<2> which assist in providing a uniform load on the main generators.
