Abstract

213,065. Hornby, B. S. Feb. 7, 1923. Distributing mains, arrangements of; systems depending on the use of static transformers.- Distributing networks for high-tension polyphase current comprise separate cables for the separate phases, and concentric outer conductors arranged to receive neutralizing currents from transformers. so as to eliminate induction losses. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, high-tension threephase current transformed up from power station bus-bars b is distributed through three underground cables each having an inner conductor i and an outer conductor o starting from the transformer secondaries s, the inner conductors are connected to the load circuit l, and the outer conductors to a common star point y. The invention comprises analogous arrangements with step-down in place of step-up transformers, and arrangements in which the neutralizing transformers are separate from power distribution transformers.
