Capsule closures and retaining-bands for special closures.-A closure for a receptacle having a smooth conical wall or rim comprises a cap 5, Fig. 6, or a clamping ring 4, Fig. 3, for a closure 1, having the downturned flange bent inwardly at the lower part 5<a> or 4<a> to bear upon the conical wall or rim of the receptacle 2. An elastic disc 7 or washer 3 of india-rubber &c. forms a tight joint. The cap 5 may be provided with two or more tongues 8 to enable the edge to be torn to remove the cap.
