Lever lids; sealing- devices for stoppers and other closures.-A can is formed either with an inwardly-turned bead 13, Fig. 2, with an inwardlydirected annular groove below it, or with an outwardly-turned bead and an outwardly-projecting annu-. lar ridges as shown in Fig. 3, both forms being adapted to be closed by a dished channel-edged flanged cap adapted to be removed by prising. The channel 21 is preferably tapered as shown in Fig. 2, and sealing material 4 may be interposed between the bottom of the channel and the bead. A lug 25, stamped out of the lid flange and bent either against the upper side of the groove 10, Fig. 2, or against the underside of the bead 13, Fig. 3, acts as a tell-tale to detect tampering with the can.
