Hydraulic transmission apparatus. - Locomotives are driven by internal-combustion engines, the crank-shafts of which are arranged longitudinally immediately above or below the wheel axles. The drive is transmitted through an hydraulic or other coupling H and bevel gear h', K to a shaft k<1>. and thence to the wheels through a. second shaft M and coupling-rods. The hydraulic coupling is constructed with one member h<1> serving as a fly-wheel, and another h' as the bevel wheel.
