222,428. Vulcan-Werke Hamburg und Stettin Akt.-Ges. Sept. 29, 1923, [Convention date]. Hydraulic transmission apparatus.-In vehicles propelled by a combination of hydraulic and mechanical gearing the latter gear is arranged between separated forward and reverse running elements of the hydraulic gearing. In the arrangement shown, a number of prime movers such as internal-combustion engines 1 drive hydraulic gears, between the elements 2, 3 of which gear wheels 4 are placed. These wheels gear with other wheels 5 driving the axles through coupling rods 7, 11. The engines may be arranged transversely as shown, or longitudinally, and the hydraulic gear may be situated between two sets ot engine cylinders. The gear wheels 5 may drive the axles through flexible shafts, bevel gearing, and crank gear. The supply of liquid to the hydraulic gear may be effected through the free end of the hollow shaft of the gear.
