Abstract

174,589. Coppens, A. J. G. Jan. 25, 1921, [Convention date]. Conical mills.-In a mill provided with a revolving grinding-cone equipped with a fan for forcing a current of air into the pulverizing space, an air chamber is provided separated from the pulverizing space by a foraminous screen. As shown, the inner and outer covers 5, 6 are provided with knife-edges 7, 8, and a screw-conveyer 10 is provided for feeding the material supplied through a branch 9. A perforated sheet or wire screen 11 carried by inner and outer rings 14, 13 separates the air chamber 12 from the pulverizing space. Vanes 16 are carried by a sleeve 17 which is loose on the spindle 18 and carries a pulley 19 driven through belt gearing 20, 21, 22 from the shaft 18. The cool air drawn into the chamber through a branch 23 is forced by the vane 16 through the pulverizing-space and discharges the ground product through an outlet 24. In a modification, the air is forced into the chamber 12 through the delivery pipe of a blower.
