Abstract

425,271. Impact pulverizers; separators. LESTRINGUES, L. L., 239<bis>, Rue Lafayette, Paris. June 29, 1934, No. 19306. Convention date, June 29, 1933. [Classes 59 and 117] In a beater mill provided with air vanes on one or both sides of the wheel carrying the beaters, the air vanes supply the whole of the air for carrying off the ground products and do not come in contact with ground material. The material to be ground is fed to the mill by an airtight feeding device. As shown in Figs. 1, 2, the pulverizer comprises one or more discs 8 provided with pivoted hammers, and on each side of the discs a fan is provided, the blades of which are adjustable. Air or hot gas supplied through inlet 13 is led to the fans through ducts 14 and is discharged with pulverized material through duct 19 to a classifier 28 where it impinges on a pivoted deflector 20 which diverts part of the gases across the classifier in the direction of the outlet 23 and the remaining part over the deflector to an adjustable plate 21. The outlet 23 is provided with adjustable flaps 25 pivoted to a telescopic tube 22. The coarse material separated out is conveyed by a screw 30 and pivoted flap 39 to the pulverizing chamber. Pulverized material from the outlet 23 may supply burners and if low grade fuel is being pulverized means is provided to start up with high grade fuel. This fuel is inserted through a door 34 into an intermediate chamber 33 of the hopper, the inlet from the hopper being closed by a door 32. A pivoted door 37, from the intermediate chamber 33, permits the fuel to pass to a mill feeder 4. After the burners have started, the door 34 is closed and the door 32 opened so that low grade fuel is fed to the mill. The pivoted door 37 in the closed position may actuate an alarm or stop the mill motor. The disc 8, Fig. 4, may be secured to a boss 81 mounted on a sleeve 43 or boss integral with the side wall by ball &c. bearings 42. The sleeve is secured to the side wall by a nut and the driving shaft 6 passes through the sleeve and is secured to a flange 8<111> bolted to the hub. Sleeves 50, 51, secured to the casing and door 2, partially enclose the hub and cause cooling air, entering through holes 52, 53, to circulate around the hub bearing. In a modification, the bearing is mounted on a stub axle fixed to the door whilst the cap 49 is driven by the motor through a sleeve.
