662,045. Centrifugal separators. HERBORT, A., and HERBORT, W., (trading as MASCHINENFABRIK A. HERBORT). Nov. 15, 1949. [Oct. 5, 1949] No. 29149/49. Class 23. A sizing machine for beans or the like comprises a turntable 4 and a verticallyadjustable sizing ring 6 which allows small articles to be centrifugally driven through a gap 8 to a shoot 13. Larger articles carried round on the turntable are deflected inwards by a member 20 and drop through slots 14 on to a rotating flange 16 leading to an outlet 18. The turntable is driven by a shaft 2, through belting from an eletric motor 24, and is surmounted by an outer stationary ring 9. A hopper 12 supplies the machine with beans. The shoot 13 discharges on to a shaker screen 30 which is oscillated by means of an arm 29 from a belt drive. Small articles which do not pass through the gap 8, due to their shape, may be discharged by way of a slot 19. The machine may be modified for multi-grade sizing.
