Abstract
184,609. Burden, A. G. N. May 28, 1921. Impact pulverizers.-Apparatus for reducing or disintegrating minerals &c. comprises a rotating disc or the like with guides, vanes, &c. to conduct the material from the central zone of the disc to its periphery whence it is thrown against a circular or annular anvil or impact ring.. A number of discs and anvils may be arranged one above the other. As shown, the material is fed by a hopper 19 on to the central part of an horizontal disc 12 mounted on a vertical shaft 3 and fitted with guides or vanes 16 having radial edges 18 which direct the material to the periphery, whence it is thrown against a circular impact-ring 21 having serrations 22 with their faces approximately at right-angles to the tangential paths of the flying particles. The ring consists of a number of segments with hookshaped projections 23 at the back to fit over the bevelled upper edge of a ring 24 secured by bolts 25 to the frame 1. The partly disintegrated material falls down a hopper 29 on to a lower disc 30 similar to the disc 12 and surrounded by an impact-ring 36. The reduced material is discharged into a receptacle arranged beneath the outlet 38 in the bottom of the receiver 11. Cover-plates 26 are provided for the discs and anvils, the lower end of the hopper 19 projecting through a hole 28 in the cover-plate of the upper disc and anvil. The shaft 3 is supported in a footstep bearing 8 and a guide 6. Wearing- plates 13, 15 and 31, 32 are provided for the discs 12, 30. The discs may be mounted to revolve in vertical or inclined planes. The machine may be arranged for treating wet material, the disc or impeller being provided with pipes &c. radiating from a central receiver into which the wet material is fed. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 444/76, 533/82, 5837/84, 3654/01, 25880/03, 17990/08, 29717/10, and 160,933.
