Abstract

Fluid-actuated valves.-A fluid-pressure controlling valve device, particularly adapted for use as a constant excess-pressure governor for boiler feed-pumps, comprises a mobile element of plunger formation acted on by steam and water pressures and connected to a remote valve stem by a spindle acted on by a counterweight or spring. In the form shown, the mobile element comprises an elastic chamber 12, reinforced by a spring 14 and clamped at one end against a cover 16 by a flange 15 on a member 17 having a passage connected to a pipe 19, whereby water pressure is admitted. The free end of the chamber is supported by a plate 18 on a spindle 28 pivoted to an arm 27 on a rock-shaft 25. The rock-shaft passes out of the actuating-chamber, to which steam pressure is supplied through a pipe 22, and into the valve chamber 26 where it is provided with an arm 30 pivoted to the spindle 31 of the valve 29. A counterweighted arm is arranged on the rock-shaft between the two chambers tending to open the valve. In a modification, a hatleather piston is used in place of the elastic chamber.
