Abstract
174,120. Vijgeboom, W., and relies, J. F. Sept. 15, 1920. Two-stroke and four-stroke cycle engines.-In a double-acting engine a piston e, f of two diameters works on a guide c for the piston-rod j. Air passes up through the guide into the interior of the piston, and thence between the trunk d and a sheet-metal outer casing n to a chamber q in the cylinder wall, whence it is directed by a valve r and passages s or t into the cylinder, and finally escapes by the exhaust ports u, v. A twostroke-cycle engine is shown. In a four-strokecycle engine, the air enters the cylinder at the end of the suction stroke.
