Abstract
172,773. Bradshaw, F. W. Sept. 29, 1920. Reinforced-concrete girders and beams.-A reinforced-concrete girder, beam, or pit prop is made with the compression boom x straight and the tension boom y sloping upwards from the centre to the ends, and with vertical struts a and openings z. Both booms are doubly reinforced and the bars are welded together at the ends. Extra reinforcements i<1> may be added over the openings z. The bearing ends may be flat, or concave sheet-iron guards h, Fig. 11, may be clipped over the ends to coact with rounded heads of props. Smaller beams may be made without the openings z, as shown in Fig. 15. The girders and beams are applied to a mine gallery as shown in Figs. 14 and 15.
