Abstract
250,588. Macomber, S. April 13, 1925, [Convention date]. Girders; reinforced-concrete floors; reinforced concrete.-A trussed girder, applicable also as a reinforcement for concrete, consists of top and bottom pairs of rods, flats, or angles 1, 2, Fig. 1, or single channels, and a continuous zig-zag web bar 3 welded at the apices to the booms and with the ends 3<b> left free until after erection. The central diagonals 3 may be made of lighter gauge rod, and an additional rod 8 may be added to the lower boom. The diagonal 4 at each end is formed as an extension of a bottom rod 2 or is a separate rod welded thereto, and is permanently connected to the upper boom. When the truss is erected, the ends 3b are secured by clamps 11, Fig. 2, to the top rods and may be hooked over the main girder 10 or be anchored in a wall or concrete beam. Fig. 5 shows the application to a concrete floor, the centering 16, 18 being carried by hooks 17 which engage the lower booms of the trusses.
