Joist floors; reinforced-concrete girders. - In order to obtain continuity across joints in floors, roofs, decks, and the like, the beams or slabs are provided with reinforcements which are bent into hook form to enable oppositely-disposed beams to be tied by links across the mutual supports and also facilitate the lifting and positioning of the beams. Fig. 1 shows secondary beams a resting on the main beam and provided with reinforcements e which are bent up into loops e<11>. The loops are connected together by links f and also serve to attach lifting-tackle d. The free ends e<1> of the loops are carried down to nearly the lower face of the beam to provide a reinforcement against shear action. The beams are also provided with lower reinforcements c which project into the joint space and are connected as at k. The main beams and the slabs may be furnished in the same way with loops &c., and the secondary beams may be attached to the main beams by means of recesses l, Fig. 4, corbels, or temporary supports, while the slabs may be supported by corbels on the secondary beams. Where the main beams are provided with recesses l, reinforcements m, n may be provided.
