Gaseous-fuel kilns.-In a kiln having a bag wall a<3> and a space f for the goods, the air inlet a<0> is arranged above the gas inlet b<0> to effect ignition opposite to the air inlet. The combustion air is obtained direct from the atmosphere without passing through other kiln chambers and may be preheated and/or under pressure. In a group of such kilns, each kiln is connected to a common gas main and exhaust flue and since each is independently operable and also interconnected with the others, the combustion products may be exhausted direct from the firing chamber or chambers; passed through any or all of the remaining chambers to preheat the goods, and/or passed through regenerators between consecutive kilns.
