Abstract

Gaseous-fuel kilns.-In a brick, pottery or like kiln, one or more longitudinal bags b are provided in which combustion is effected, the gases issuing from the chequer work openings i of the bag, traversing the stacked goods and passing through openings in the floor to other kiln chambers or a regenerator, and thence to the chimney. The goods are stacked between the bag b and the walls, and, when more than one bag is used, between the bags. A vertical passage above each floor opening is formed by the stacked goods which may project over the bag b, openings k in the top of the bag being provided. The openings i, k may be enlarged or diminished by inserting or removing bricks between charges. In the arrangement described the combustion products pass below the floor through damper-controlled openings o to the regenerator flues h, the air being supplied through inclined nostrils f and the gas through the vertical passage e which is connected by a passage d to a gas producer. The bag is preferably divided into compartments along its length.
