Abstract

24,924. Schwarz, P. Oct. 27. Gaseous-fuel kilns. -In a gas-fired continuous kiln the perforated vertical gastubes or burners 3 are enclosed by cross-walls 9, 10 dividing the kiln into a series of chambers through which the gases pass as indicated by the arrows. The cross-walls are built of green firebricks, the walls 9 being stopped short at their lower ends or provided with openings 9<Î>, and the walls 10 being stopped short at the top to leave openings 10<Î>. Gas from a producer passes to the burners from conduits 4, the gas issuing from the perforations in the burners being mixed with pre-heated air from already-burned goods, and ignited in the spaces between the cross-walls.
