Abstract

170,346. Henry, F. G. July 12, 1920. Spring wheels. - A spring wheel comprises a tread member supported on the outer ends of levers pivoted between discs carried on the hub, the inner ends of the levers engaging notches in a plate which is resiliently held central of the hub by springs. The tread member 10, has recesses 17 in which the ends of the levers 19 are accommodated. The levers 19 are supported on pivots 25 carried between the wheel discs, and engage with their inner ends 43, notches in the sides of plates 35. Recesses in the plates 35 house sinuous springs 52 bearing on saddles 49 which, when the hub 30 is central of the wheel, rest against shoulders 47 in the sides of the recesses. Rotation of the plates 35 relative to the hub is prevented by the provision of notches 20 in the ends of the plates, in which the bosses of the levers 19 are accommodated. A tyre cone 11, may be secured by radial bolts 12 to the tread member 10, and a cover 13 may be secured by annuli 14 held by transverse bolts. One side disc may be removable.
