Abstract

170,293. General Motors Research Corporation, (Assignees of Kettering, C. F.). Oct. 15, 1920, [Convention date]. Cylinders, cooling, pipes for, and mounting. - The cooling ribs 11 on the cylinder are made longer on the exhaust side than on the admission side of the cylinder. The ribs may be radial and cut down on the admission side or the exterior line of the ribs may be eccentric as shown. In assembling a multicylinder engine two cylinders are welded together on the admission side; each cylinder may be cast with half its admission pipe. The ribs are enclosed in a casing 12 through which air is drawn by a blower. The ribs may be of the kind described in Specification 165,764.
