Abstract
500,340. Cooling cylinders. TENNANT, W. J. (Ringhoffer-Tatra-Werke Akt.-Ges.) Aug. 26, 1938, No. 25182. [Class 7 (ii)] In an air-cooled radial-cylinder engine a double centrifugal blower, coaxial with the crank-shaft, draws the cooling air direct from the atmosphere, and from spaces between casings 6 round the cylinders, as shown by the arrows 5, 7. The casings 6 extend round the cylinder fins and contain the exhaust and inlet pipes 9, 10. The blower blades may be fixed to the engine fly-wheel as shown, or to the engine shaft ; alternatively, the blower may be driven through gearing.
