Coke ovens.-In a verticalflued coke oven having at the lower ends of the flues removable burner nozzles to which access can be .obtained for cleaning and replacement through roof passages in alignment with the flues, the nozzles H are formed of fire-clay or other like non-metallic refractory material, and each gas passage has an upper calibrated orifice H<1> of smaller size than the lower portion H<2>.
