Abstract
165,475. Cammell, Laird, & Co., Ltd., Carter, Sir G. J., Jones, E. V., and Davies, F. Dec. 29, 1919. Bulkhead doors.-The brass facing-strip D for making the watertight joint is rigidly fixed in and stands proud of a groove a<3> formed in the facing of the door frame A, which is stiffened by a rearwardly-extending flange a<2> protruding through the stiffeners or angular extensions thereof to the deck bulkhead opening. Gusset plates b<1> connect the plating and the transverse angle-bar b<5> is cut away on each side of the frame A and the ends connected by a deeper angle-bar b<6>. A lateral frameflange a<1> riveted to the bulkhead plating B is fitted at the top and bottom of the frame with bosses a<4> carrying rails E, which provide a guide for the door C and a support for door rollers c<2>. To ensure the necaessary pressure of the door on the strip D, L-shaped lugs a<6> secured to bosses a<5>, Fig. 6, on the side flange engage the leading edge of the door the rear of which is provided with socket pieces c<3> taking undor wedge-shaped tongue pieces as on the other side flange of the frame.
