Abstract

Reservoir pens.-In a reservoir pen filled by means of a piston reciprocating in a chamber separate from the reservoir, preferably of the kind described in Specification 152,079, the valve controlling the passage between chamber and reservoir is manually-operated independently of the piston. The valve may comprise a plug normally pressed down upon its seating by a spring and temporarily raised by means of a connecting rod and external button. Access to the valve passage may be controlled by a screw plug. In the form shown, the conical valve plug e<1> is pressed on its seating by the spring n to close the passage k connecting the ink reservoir a to the chamber p in which the piston q reciprocates. The - plug e<1> is connected by the rod g to the button h, leakage of ink being prevented by the resilient washer h<2> and by the flanged periphery h<1> of the button engaging a corresponding recess in the pen body. Access to the passage k is controlled by the screw plug c perforated at c<1>, partial unscrewing of the plug opening the passage to the chamber p, and means may be provided to prevent complete withdrawal of the plug.
