Abstract
161,194. Herkenrath, F. G. April 6, 1920, [Convention date]. Multiple-way valves.-In apparatus for atomizing metals of the kind in which a wire is fed through a blow-pipe flame by means of an airactuated turbine and then atomized by means of an air blast, the fusing and spraying gases are controlled by means of separate lift valves o, p, p<1> mounted in the same casing and operated from the shaft d. The valve p for controlling the supply of inflammable gas is provided with a passage q so that a pilot light is kept burning when the valve is closed. The valves p, p<1> for the inflammable gas and oxygen respectively are provided with projections s, s<1>, which restrict the passage of gas until the valve is completely open. The valve o admits air to the spraying-nozzle through the port x and to the turbine, which feeds the wire through the nozzle, through the ports y, z. On the opening of the valve o, air is first admitted to the turbine through both ports y, z, but on further opening the port y is closed by the piston wand air admitted only through the regulable passage z. Leakage past the stems f, g, h is prevented by packingi, k, l and further when the vented by packing i, k, l, and further when the on the valve stems.
