Abstract

120,978. Conklin, B. Nov. 28, 1917. Oxyhydrogen and like burners.-In an oxy-acetylene or like torch for welding, cutting, or brazing metals &c., by means of a jet or jets of .combustible gases introduced under high pressure by separate ducts and mixed in proximity to the tip or nozzle, and an independent controlled blast of high-pressure gas, provision is made in the head for splitting up or atomizing the blast in its passage to the nozzle. The handle portion is provided with suitable valve-controlled gas inlets controlling the admission of the gases to the separate ducts or passages 6, 7, 8. Oxygen through the duct 6 and acetylene through the duct 8 are mixed in the head and ignited as usual at the apertures 19 in the tip 10. The independent oxygen blast is admitted through the duct 7 and passes to-the central bore 46 of the tip through the atomizing- chamber 45, which is provided with a closemeshed wire screen 47 for splitting up or atomizing the blast.
