Abstract
614,923. Blowpipe burners. LINDE AIR PRODUCTS CO. Dec. 10, 1945, No. 33391. Convention date, Jan. 17. [Class 75 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] A blowpipe for flame machining metal bodies has a central longitudinal passage for oxygen an outer longitudinal passage for preheating gas and an intermediate passage for discharging a stream of adjuvant powder such as ferromanganese, tin, lead &c. The nozzle, Fig. 2, has a central oxygen passage 63 fed from a tube 73 and outer passages 47 for heating gas supplied by a tube 69. Intermediate passages 45 are supplied with adjuvant powder from a tube 77 connected to a hopper under air pressure. The parts 53, 44 of the nozzle are jointed by taper surfaces 49, 51, 55 and packing washers 64, 70. The jet may have a central orifice 109 for oxygen and outer ring of orifices 111 for preheating gas and an intermediate ring of orifices 113 for adjuvant powder. The orifices 113 may be replaced by a single orifice to discharge a single stream of powder ahead of the oxygen jet. In a modification Fig. 9 a conventional cutting nozzle 100 has an extension tube 105 secured by brazing and supplying powder to a jet 104, as set forth in Specification 601,982 [Group XXII].
