Abstract
552,321. Metals dividing by fusion; blowpipe burners. HANCOCK, L. J. Sept. 25, 1941, No. 12439. [Class 75 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] A preheating jet impinges at right angles upon the steel to be cut at a bevel slightly in advance of the oxygen cutting jet of a combined heating- cutting burner. In the apparatus shown a heating-cutting burner 1 having an angularly adjustable nozzle 3 and a preheating burner 2 are mounted in collars 6, 10 carried by angularly adjustable links 5, 8 pivoted on screw studs 11 fitted with wing-nuts 12. The burner 2 may be adjusted in the collar 6 to any desired height relatively to the work x-x and its jet 13 may be offset and rotatable to allow horizontal displacement.
