[Class 83 (iv).] The extreme face of a blowpipe nozzle or tip for use in oxygen cutting apparatus is stepped, the cutting jet orifice being formed in a surface 3 of extended area adapted to engage the work and to act as a guiding surface and the preheating jet orifice 8 or orifices being formed in a surface 7 set back from the surface 3 at such a distance as to secure the best heating effect on the work. The sides of the tip are preferably cut away for about three-quarters of its length along planes parallel to a line joining the centres of the jets 4, 8 and the step 10 between the surfaces 3, 7 is preferably rounded. The flat sides of the tip may be engaged by a straightedge or templet during the cutting operation.
