Abstract
744,824. Dividing by fusion. WHESSOE, Ltd. Nov. 6,1953 [Nov. 6, 1952], No. 27973/52. Class 83 (4). In flame-cutting apparatus for producing oppositely inclined bevels on the edge of a plate to prepare it for welding, a floating head 20 driven along the plate 21 carries the nozzles 22, 24 producing the bevels and is pivoted on a member 25 carried by two wheels 27, 28 running on the plate and positioned before and behind the nozzles. A vertical nozzle 23 may be positioned between the nozzles 22, 24 or as described in Specification 718,060 the vertical nozzle may be in front of the others, one of which is below the plate. The floating head 20 can be locked rigidly to the driving apparatus and the member 25 can be locked to the floating head to enable the cuts to be completed when the front wheel 27 runs over the end of the plate 21.
