Abstract

18,590. Kautz, M. Aug. 16. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Blowpipe burners; gas supply.-In a blowpipe burner for use with acetylene and oxygen or similar gases, the hydrogen or acetylene tube a is packed with sponge b to absorb moisture and prevent the flashing-back of an explosion; the outer nozzle is provided with a mixing- chamber k in the form of a double cone, in the middle of which is arranged a recess g. The oxygen tube h communicates with a passage i into which is screwed the nozzle j. The acetylene &c., after passing through the sponge b, is delivered by a series of holes c to the annular passage d surrounding the oxygen nozzle. The mixed gases then pass -through the separately detachable nozzles e, f to the outlet orifice or orifices. According to the Provisional Specification, the two gas supplies and the mixing arrangements are so formed that the nozzle can be swivelled to suit various conditions of working.
