Abstract
12,558. FouchÚ, E. Nov. 3, 1908, [Convention date] Blowpipe burners. -The flashing- back of an explosion into the tubes supplying the oxygen or like comburent in an oxy - acetylene or other blowpipe burner, such as is described in Specification 1066/09, is prevented by causing the oxygen &c. to pass through a helical groove of small pitch in the blowpipe body before reaching the injection nozzle. The helical groove 18 is formed by a square-threaded screw on the metal plug 7, which fits the blowpipe bore closely. The oxygen, &c., is supplied by the pipe 12, and is ejected from the nozzle 5 into the conical conduit 13 along with acetylene from the passage 11, to which it is supplied through long narrow coiled tubes 17 in the blowpipe handle, as described in Specification 6944/03, [Class 51, Furnaces &c.].
