Abstract
15,520. Whitfield, C. July 3. Spray burners.-Relates to oil or like liquid - fuel burners for use chiefly in furnaces for melting metals. The burner body a is shaped as shown, the conical part b forming the burner nozzle. The oil-supply tube d is screwed i n t o a closing- bush c, and at its end is provided with holes e arranged more o less perpendicular to the inner inclined face of the burner nozzle b. Theair-supply pipe is provided with a valve h preferably in the form of a curved shutter, which is moved to vary the opening by a knob i. The pressure of the air is regulated by the valve h, and the volume of the air is regulated by moving the burner nozzle b relatively to the end of the oil tube d. The perforated end of the oil tube d is preferably bulbous.
