Valves controlled from a distance.-For operating gas valves for lighting and extinguishing gas burners by pneumatic means two pistons c, i arranged within separate cylindrical bores b, h, and with communicating passages h, o are used. In operation, by suction through the pipe f, the piston is moved to uncover the port d to the burner, and at the same time the piston i is temporarily lifted so that gas can pass through the passage o and pipe l to the ignition pellet n, whereby the gas issuing from the burner is ignited. The piston i soon falls and the pellet n is extinguished. By an increase of pressure in the pipe f, the piston c is forced back and the gas supply to the burner is closed. The arrangement is also applicable to inverted burners.
