Abstract
736,860. Flame cutting torches. BUCKLE, L. G., and BOOCOCK, R. Oct. 14, 1953 [July 17, 1952], No. 18119/52. Addition to 626,074. Class 75 (1). In the flame and oxygen cutting torch of the parent Specification the continuous and constant supply of fuel gas and oxygen for preheating is effected through a bore formed in the head or other member of a valve controlling the supplementary flow of the fuel gas and oxygen so that when the valve is closed the constant flow of gaseous mixture by-passes the valve. The constant supply of combustion oxygen passes to the preheating jet through a bore 8 in a valve plunger 7 and of gas through a bore 15 in a valve plunger 14 to ensure proper heating of the article during the cutting period when the cutting oxygen valve 4 is open. When the cutting oxygen valve 4 is closed by depressing a lever 20 the valves 7 and 14 are opened by means of a shaft 25, a crosspiece 26 and shafts 27 to supplement the constant supply of combustion oxygen and gas to provide an intense preheating flame. The extent of the opening of the cutting oxygen valve 4 is adjusted by means of a hand wheel 24.
