Abstract
1,102,154. Cutting by fusion. UNION CARBIDE CORPORATION. 12 July, 1966 [13 July, 1965], No. 31132/66. Heading B3V. [Also in Division F4] A flame cutting torch for use on ferrous metals has its central cutting oxygen passageway 12 supplied with pre-heating gas for heating the centre of the cutting zone before the cutting oxygen is turned on. An oxygen and fuel gas mixture is supplied through valve 36 to manifold 28 which connects with preheating ports 22 and through radial ports 10 and sleeve valve 16 with the central passageway 12. This produces preheating flames (38), (40), Fig. 2 (not shown). When the cutting oxygen is turned on by opening valve 34, sleeve valve 16 closes the radial ports 10.
