Abstract

160,363. Orem, F. S. March 24, 1920. Dust-collectors; filtering.-An air filter for carburettors comprises a casing 22 having an air inlet 23 and an outlet 24, filtering members 25, 37 of wire gauze covered with felt or the like, and an impermeable cup-shaped member 29. The inflowing air enters the cup 29, part of the dust being deposited therein, and then flows over the flange 30 and is drawn through the filtering members. Holes are provided in the bottom of the casing 22 for the removal of dust, the holes being normally covered by a rotary member 33 provided with outlet ports 34. Inclined baffles 42 direct the dust to the discharge holes.
